Pit bull and Rottweiler Liabilities not Covered

In United States of America, two breeds of dogs are responsible for fatal attacks on human beings. Fifty two persons have died due to the pit bull attack and twelve persons have died due to rottweiler attack in the last three years. According to the survey conducted by US centre for disease control over eight lakh dog bites are reported every year.

If you are living in southern California then you are safe because dog bite injury compensation is very much available there. There are many attorneys who are specialists in this kind of claim in that part of the America.

As a matter of fact most of the dog bite victims are children. The reason is very simple. The children play with the dogs more than the adults and the children tend play roughly which may provoke the dog to bite. The children could not understand the warning signs of the provoked dog and easily fall a prey to the dog attack. where as the story is little different in case of pit bulls because the pit bull bites all of a sudden and the children could not escape as the pit bulls will over power them as they are heavy and robust. The pit bulls weigh about 30 to 40 pounds easily which too much for most of the children.

Pit bulls attack the adults too. Six out of the fifty two people who died due to pit bull attack are more than 65 years old. In that two were attacked in their own yards. As mentioned earlier the pit bull attack has no prior warning at all. Though the pit bull attacks the adults and children alike the children are traumatized more than the adults. In some cases the children are attacked in the presence of adults. The adults could not protect the child as they are over powered by the pit bull’s size and strength. Because of this increased number of attacks by the pit bull, there is people movement to eliminate pit bull breed in some parts of the America.

There is a problem in making the law against this totally unpredictable aggressive breed of dog. There is no clear genetic study that confirms that these dogs are really uncontrollable. Besides the agency which tests the temperament of the various dog breeds could not confirm that pit bulls are the worst. The pet owners must under stand that most of the insurance companies exclude pit bull, rottweilers, huskies and American bull dog from the liability portion of the policy. In this case the pet owners should compensate the damage caused to the sufferer.

There is piece of information. If you are injured by the pit bull attack in Los Angeles, there is no need to worry as there are plenty of attorneys who are very well experienced in handling those cases in the court of law. If those are approached, your monetary loss can be covered as those attorneys are expert in protecting the dog attack victim rights.

WHITE PIT BULLS- WHY IS WHITE PIT BULLS SO MUCH BETTER

The pit bulls puppies are noticed in different colors and the pit bulls are named according to the color like white pit bulls, black pit bulls and red pit bulls. These pit bulls are much sought after as they are liked by many. Blue pit bulls and red pit bulls are very much in demand next to the white pit bulls.

Though the breed characteristic is one and the same, some people prefer dogs that have the coat color matching their taste. Among the white pit bull there are many different varieties. One such variety is moo mo0 pit bulls. These pit bulls have white coat color with black patters running around like a dairy cow. The most characteristic feature is the present black patch around the eye of the pit bull. People go crazy to buy these moo moo pit bulls. This variety is very freely available in the market. The reason could be nothing but too much breeding to meet out the demand.

There is negative propaganda going on in media about the pit bulls. They report that the pit bulls are very trouble some and are uncontrollable. The poor pit bulls do not deserve this bad name. In fact the pit bulls are lovely dogs. American temperament society performs test on the various breeds of dog to understand their temperament. Year after year, the pit bulls score good mark and are found to have better temperament than many other breeds. To make it very clear, the pit bull temperament is much better than the small poodle breed. This American society performs test in so many other breeds such as dachshund, Pomeranian, beagle, coolie etc. all these breeds have score lesser than pit bull when it comes to temperament.

One should understand very clearly that white pit bulls are just the same when the characters, aggressiveness, temperament etc are concerned. Only coat color is white nothing else. One should evaluate whether pit bull is the right choice for his taste or not and should go-ahead, that is all. The white color hardly matters except the appealing.

Those who can spend quality time with the dog only should go in for pit bulls. This is must because the pit bulls require more attention than many other breeds of dog. Besides the person should have sufficient place to house as the pit bulls are very playful. The person should have required money to provide sufficient training and exercise to the pit bull. If sufficient exercise is not provided, then pit bull will put on more weight which will result in unwanted health problems.

As these pit bulls are robust and aggressive in nature, proper training is also must. The dogs should be provided healthy food to meet out the requirement of the pit bulls active life style. The pit bulls should be provided home made as the processed foods are not suited to them. Pit bulls irrespective of the color coat require toys to play with. The white pit bull puppy should be purchased considering all these factors.

Pit Bulls: Legit Dog Breed or Mixed Mongrel

I'll get straight to it. Pit Bulls are a legit dog breed but they are known by their official name of American Pit Bull Terrier.

Anything else is not a Pit Bull nor should it be called a Pit Bull.

How did the whole "pit bull" thing spin out of control?

Good question so here is my answer...

Fanciers of the breed refer to their dogs using a variety of terms. Most common are, Pit Bull,Pit Bulldog, Pit Bull Terrier, or plain old, bulldog.

Where the whole thing got out of hand was when people who did not know what a real Pit Bull looked like started calling anything that resembled the dogs, "pit bulls" and viola!, we are more confused
than ever.

There are many breeds of dogs that are similar in appearance and origin as the American Pit Bull Terrier and this, once again, has led to the problem of misidentifying other breeds as Pit Bulls.

A few breeds that are often mistaken for American Pit Bull Terriers (aka Pit Bulls) are:

1. American Bulldogs.

2. Cane Corso's.

3. Presa Canerio's.

4. Dogo Argentino's.

5. Mixed breed dogs of any of the above breeds.

6. Mastiffs.

7. Staffordshire Bull Terriers.

8. Bull Terriers.

The list goes on and on but the reality of it is this...

The only dog on planet earth that is a "Pit Bull" is the American Pit Bull Terrier. This the only breed on earth that has "Pit Bull" in it's official name.

So why doesn't the American Kennel Club recognize Pit Bulls as a breed?

For starters, remember when we talked about how people started calling anything that resembled an American Pit Bull Terrier a "pit bull" well there is reason number one.

Another reason is they are quite uptight and think that any dog not recognized by them is not a purebred dog. This is the farthest thing from the truth but millions of people buy into their ideology and promote incorrect information.

For proof one only needs to seek out the United Kennel Club or the American Dog Breeders Association to see what a real Pit Bull is and that American Pit Bull Terriers are in fact a purebred dog.

American Pit Bull Terriers (real Pit Bulls) are loyal, strong,
and love a challenge. That is why they are working dogs that
excel at hard work that other breeds shrink from.

Their love of people is legendary and that is why they are so easy to exploit and are being exploited daily by thousands of ignorant, greedy, sadistic people that use them for the wrong reasons.

So to sum up this article and put a final answer to the question, Are Pit Bulls a legit breed or a mixed mongrel...

The real Pit Bull or the American Pit Bull Terrier is in fact a legit breed of dog that excels at almost any task they are put to.

Choosing the Perfect Name for Your Pit Bull - By Jason Mann

Giving your Pit Bull a name has more to it than picking one that sounds good. Choosing the perfect name is not easy and most Pit Bull owners base the name they give their dogs on their own ideal of what person a the dog should represent.

Unfortunately, Pit Bull owners choose some lousy names and this article will share how you can avoid choosing a crappy name and find the perfect name for your Pit Bull.

Many Pit Bull owners choose names like Bear or Tank or Bull or some other name that reflects the dogs strength and size.

Other owners, well, they go to the other side of the coin and choose names like softy, sugar, honey, or fluffy.

What you choose to name your dog is entirely up to you but here are a few things you may want to consider when you pick your Pit Bulls name...

1. One or two syllables. The easier it is to say the easier you will be able to use it. Your dog will learn to respond quicker to shorter names. This is based on training using shorter words.

2. The dog likes it. You can see when you dog likes a name. Say the name in a normal voice and see if your dog responds. If they ignore you, choose another name. The name should get a response without having to act like a fruitcake to entice your dog to pay attention.

3. Unique. I love unique Pit Bull names. Tank is not unique. Nor is Bear or Killer or Fluffy. Pick a name that has value to you and your dog but is unique at the same time.

Choosing the perfect name for your Pit Bull takes time and if you follow the criteria above and look around the web for lists of dog names you'll be able to find a name that suits your dog and your tastes.

In summary, choose a name that has a purpose other than telling the world your dog is strong or love-able. Names are how people tell a lot about animals so take your time to choose a name that fits your Pit Bull.

Pit Bull Puppy Proofing

Soft clothing articles like sneakers, leather shoes, socks and other assorted undergarments simulate soft animal like objects that are irresistible to your puppy.

To a puppy, these are play items that if left laying around, are there for his or her enjoyment, so prepare the family members to keep things off the floor as they are fair game to the pup.

Now remember we are talking about a pit bull puppy. As the dog gets older and starts bonding, these items begin to replace your presence when you are not home due to a stronger human scent that accompanies these items.

Of course, there are many, many household items that need to be removed from the puppy’s reach. Items such as pin cushions, sewing needles, household cleaners, soaps, candy dishes, pens, pencils, thumb tacks, paper clips, yarn, paint, modeling clay, crayons and the list goes on and on.

Puppy proof your home for your new puppy in the same way as you would for a toddler aged child.

That would be the best guideline anyone could give you. Decide where you would like the puppy’s bed to be. If you choose the mat beside your bed, that’s fine.

If the laundry room is your choice, that’s OK too. The important thing is to have a plan before the pup comes home. Gather a few old blankets or large towels together so that you have a reserve stockpile to pull from.

Don’t choose your next to best linens (to honor the new arrival), as the puppy will probably eat them or at least chew interesting patterns in them. All pit bull puppies chew. It’s nature’s way of reducing painful cutting and growing of baby teeth. They also chew to relieve stress from built-up energies within themselves or from simple boredom.

Pit bull puppies will chew anything, from toilet paper to gyp rock or wallboard. Preventative measures are the best method of correcting the pit bull puppy vices.

Understanding Pit bulls

Pit bull is nothing but the name of breed of dog that is loved by all creeds of people especially Americans. The Americans do fear these dogs as much as they love. Dog bite incidences are more in the houses that has pit bull when compared with the houses that have other breeds. Of late, pit bulls have created paranoia among the dog lovers.

The pit bull indicates three breeds of dogs. They are Staffordshire bull terrier, American [Staffordshire] terrier, and pit bull terrier of America. This dog’s origin is United Kingdom.

Free Image Hosting
During the 19th century pit bull terrier of America was imported to America from England. American Staffordshire terrier is also called as Amstaff. This Amstaff is the variant of English bulldog. These Amstaff were known for their fighting qualities.

All these pit bulls dogs will be having short and stout body. The mouth will be wide and the tongues will be long and hanging from the mouth.

Pit bulls are one of the most energized and athletic dogs in the world. These dogs have evolved from bears. These dogs were in olden days, used by the cowboys for bull fighting.

One would have come across term “taking the bull by its nose". This term originated from the fact that these pit bulls can hold a bull by biting it in its nose. These dogs love to play with children brushing aside all their ferocious nature.

Many families who had pit bulls in their house vouch for the fact that these dogs like the children very much.

Pit bulls are very aggressive dog temperamentally; there is no doubt about that. Because of this reason some kennels breed these dogs for dog fighting show.

However, as a matter of fact such dog fights are illegal. These dogs don’t attack the other dogs instantly. Only when provoked these dogs will pounce on them and fight them terribly.

As these dogs are highly ferocious in some places these are banned from rearing. For example, these dogs are banned in Ontario of Canada. In those places the dogs that are found already are either neutered or spayed.

In some places these dogs were subjected to euthanasia also. This of course gave rise to vociferous agitation from the dog lovers all over the world. The dog lovers condemned these activities as barbarian act.

The dog lovers all over the world argued that the pit bulls are as aggressive as any other dogs. Hence killing these dogs cannot be pardoned. Besides that only the aggressive dogs can be reared in houses for protection against the predators and thief’s.

As these dogs are best suited to that instead of rewarding then killing is absolutely absurd, they argued. The intensity of the ferociousness and the aggression of these dogs can be reduced greatly by proper training.

Only the dog that bred poorly and not cared properly becomes vicious. Hence the dog lovers resort to even signature campaign to save these pit bulls from extinction. Their famous slogans is “don’t punish the breed, punish the deed.”

The pit bulls are the reason for the tug –of –war between the dog lovers and the law enforcing authorities. As the result many people are turning away to other breeds for rearing. Many people look at these pit bull breeds as monsters, but in reality they are not. The ferociousness of these dogs has put a big question mark on their future.

Pit Bull Health Care

From the moment you purchase your pit bull puppy, the most important person in both your lives becomes your veterinarian. His professional advice and treatment will ensure the good health of your pet. The vet is the first person to call when illness or accidents occur.

Do not try to be your own veterinarian or apply human remedies to canine diseases. However, just as you would keep a first aid kit handy for minor injuries sustained by members of your family at home, so you should keep a similar kit prepared for your pet.

First aid for your dog would consist of stopping any bleeding, cleaning the wound, and preventing infection. Thus your kit might contain –

  • Medicated powder
  • Gauze bandages
  • Adhesive tapes to be used in case of cuts

If the cut is deep and bleeding profusely, the bandage should not be kept in place longer than necessary, so as to take your pet to the veterinarian immediately.

Walking or running on a cut pad prevents the cut from healing. Proper suturing of the cut and regular changing of the bandages should have your pet’s wound healed in a week to ten days.

A minor cut should be covered with a light bandage, for you want as much air as possible to reach the wound. Do not apply wads of cotton to a wound, as they will stick to the area and may cause contamination
