The History of Red-Nose Pitbulls

Nobody knows from where red-nose pitbulls orginated. Probing the fact of its intrusion into U.S., so many interesting facts are being revealed.

A famous boxer- John Sullivan, came to the USA to fight in a world heavyweight championship from Ireland. He asked his parents to ship his rednose pitbulls over from Ireland. This was the time the red-nosed pitbulls are being introduced in USA.

The red-nosed pitbulls are GOOD dog as long as you teach them early not to be aggressive. Beware these dogs are becoming so notorious if provoked or taught with aggresive behavior. These Red-nosed pitbulls have gone from never doing a thing wrong in the way of aggression to chewing up a three year old child who walked past the fence in their yard. So be careful while dealing this dog. Please keep in mind that two pitbull fighting is more dangerous than one. All the best to rear a red-nosed pit bull.

You Don't Get a Second Chance!

If you don't want to see your Pitbull put to sleep or even shot, please read this article.

I'm sure you're aware of the bad reputation Pitbulls have. That reputation is mostly based on ignorance and irresponsible owners that don't take the time to learn about the breeds special needs.

You see, alot of people buy a Pitbull and expect it to naturally turn into a perfect pet without any work on their part. That's exactly why you hear so much about Pitbull attacks in the news... Irresponsible and Uninformed Owners(as well as neglect and abuse in many human attack cases).

As a well known Pitbull expert, I receive up to 40 emails a day from normal people all over the world. Most of the emails are from people that are desperate for help with their Pitbull.

Unfortunately I don't have time to answer every email I get, but I often spend as much as 5 hours in a day answering as many as possible. It's because of this fact that I wrote The Pitbull Guide. The goal of my book is to help people before they get into a bad situation that requires them to give their Pitbull away, or put it to sleep.

You wouldn't believe some of the emails I get(It's depressing sometimes)... These are some of the common types of email messages I get:

Emails from People that believe you have to physically beat the heck out of Pitbulls to get them to behave. This is incredibly stupid because it leads to them being more aggressive toward strangers and terrified of their owner.

Emails from People that are upset that their Pitbull might be put to sleep or taken away because of an animal or human attack. It should never get to this, there are several simple things you can do to seriously reduce the risk of your Pitbull ever attacking.

I've even received quite a few emails from upset owners that had their Pitbull SHOT by a neighbor or Police Officer, simply because it was roaming, or because it attacked another dog. Pitbulls were bred as fighting dogs and if you don't take the necessary steps to prevent it, there's a very good chance your Pitbull WILL attack another animal, and it will almost certainly maim or kill that animal.

Don't get me wrong, Pitbulls are not human aggressive by nature. However, there is a huge demand for Big, Mean, Aggressive Pitbulls by people that shouldn't be allowed to own any animal. Because of this demand, people have started breeding Pitbulls with bigger and more aggressive breeds. They still call it a Pitbull but it's behavior is far from it.

I know alot about Pitbulls, and due to the amount of email I've received, I'm possibly the leading expert in the world on the problems people have with them. Most of the problems can be solved or prevented very easily if you just learn and use some simple techniques.

I want you to ask your self the following questions and really consider them:

What if your Pitbull gets out and kills a neighbors dog? What if that neighbor sues you?

What if your Pitbull gets out and approaches a police officer that has the common misconception that Pitbulls are viscous dogs?

What if a child chases a ball into your backyard? Are you confident that child will be safe?

You might be thinking "that'll never happen" or "my sweet Pitbull would never attack another animal." I more than anyone, am qualified to tell you that it can and does happen all the time. I get the emails from people that are desperate and depressed, seeking my help because these things did happen to them.

It is true that Pitbulls are naturally loving toward people, but don't dare think, for even one second, that Pitbulls aren't naturally aggressive with other animals. Sure your Pitbull may get along great with your two Yellow Labs and maybe even your cat, but when your Pitbull stands face to face with another animal that it's never met, there's no one on earth that can guarantee the safety of that animal! But you can greatly reduce the chances of your Pitbull ever attacking another animal if you know how.

You need to face the fact that Pitbulls are high energy, animal aggressive dogs. You need to know that Pitbulls are incorrectly viewed as viscous, child killing dogs and that people have shot and killed Pitbulls just for coming on their property(even when the Pitbull was wagging it's tail, looking to be pet).

I know some of this is a little scary, heck I'll probably even get some hate mail from Pitbull lovers because of it. You see, Pitbull lovers hate to read anything negative about Pitbulls. But due to the increasing trend of outlawing Pitbulls(It's happening all over the world), their future isn't looking very bright. The purpose of this article is to slap Pitbull owners in the face with what has happened to other Pitbull owners, so they don't have to experience it.

You need to learn how to properly care for, and train your Pitbull so that it doesn't attack other animals or people. You need to learn how to keep your Pitbull from roaming. You need to understand why your Pitbull has certain behaviors. How to manage it's energy level so that it doesn't dig and chew everything in sight.

I want everyone to understand that Pitbulls have special needs and that a little bit of work on your part could end up saving you thousands of dollars as well as a lifetime of heartache.

We Pitbull owners tend to blame the Media for the bad reputation Pitbulls have, but it's really the fault of irresponsible owners and breeders. People need to know how great this breed is, but they also need to know that this breed has special needs and requires a responsible owner who is willing to put in the effort needed to ensure their Pitbull doesn't ever need a second chance.

I really don't want to receive any more depressing emails, so please do yourself, your dog, and your community a favor and learn how to properly raise, and train your Pitbull. With a little effort on your part, your relationship and time with your Pitbull can be better than you ever imagined.

Pitbull Castration - A remedy for ferociousness?

Some of the pitbull owners think pitbull castration is a perfect remedy for ferociousness. Even some owners fear to have their pitbulls castrated because they believe it will cause them to get fat. Here I am enumerating the advantages of Pitbull castration-

1. Stops unwanted pregnancies
2. Completely stops urine spraying and marking
3. Agression towards other male dog will be completely stopped.
4. Minimizes the roaming in the street, which in turn minimizes the accident and decreases emergency hospital visits.
5. Decreases the incidence of life threatening diseases like prostate cancer and prostatitis.

As bottom line, I would like to confirm that your pitbull agression will be minimized if it is castrated. The surgery will not serve to make him more passive if your pitbull does not have an aggression problem.

Llama Attacked: PitBull Shot Dead...

A pit bull was shot to death Saturday after it shrugged off a
jolt from a stun gun and turned on a Mountie trying to stop the
dog's attack on a llama.

RCMP in Langley, B.C., said they were called to the 1400 block
of 200 Street at about 8 a.m. PT after a neighbour reported seeing
two pit bulls attacking an alpaca and a llama in an enclosed area
of the property.

According to a release, the officers saw one of the pit bulls
hanging from the throat of the llama, which was bleeding
profusely. The alpaca had also been attacked and bore notable
neck wounds.

In a bid to end the attack, one of the Mounties used his Taser,
which momentarily stunned the animal. However, the dog swiftly
recovered and charged another officer.

An officer fired his pistol twice, wounding the animal. It then
ran under a fence toward people drawn to the scene, the release
said.

The officer followed the dog around a residence. When it turned
and charged him, he fired three rounds with his pistol. The dog
ran into a nearby barn, where it collapsed and died a short time
later.

The second pit bull was outside the fenced area and had some
blood on its chest. It growled but made no attempt to attack anyone.

The Langley Animal Protection Society has seized the uninjured
pit bull. An emergency on-call veterinarian was called to assist
the injured llama, which survived. There was no word on the
alpaca's condition.

The owner of the two dogs was a guest visiting the property owner.

Pit Bulls: Legit Dog Breed or Mixed Mongrel

I'll get straight to it. Pit Bulls are a legit dog breed but they are known by their official name of American Pit Bull Terrier.

Anything else is not a Pit Bull nor should it be called a Pit Bull.

How did the whole "pit bull" thing spin out of control?

Good question so here is my answer...

Fanciers of the breed refer to their dogs using a variety of terms. Most common are, Pit Bull,Pit Bulldog, Pit Bull Terrier, or plain old, bulldog.

Where the whole thing got out of hand was when people who did not know what a real Pit Bull looked like started calling anything that resembled the dogs, "pit bulls" and viola!, we are more confused
than ever.

There are many breeds of dogs that are similar in appearance and origin as the American Pit Bull Terrier and this, once again, has led to the problem of misidentifying other breeds as Pit Bulls.

A few breeds that are often mistaken for American Pit Bull Terriers (aka Pit Bulls) are:

1. American Bulldogs.

2. Cane Corso's.

3. Presa Canerio's.

4. Dogo Argentino's.

5. Mixed breed dogs of any of the above breeds.

6. Mastiffs.

7. Staffordshire Bull Terriers.

8. Bull Terriers.

The list goes on and on but the reality of it is this...

The only dog on planet earth that is a "Pit Bull" is the American Pit Bull Terrier. This the only breed on earth that has "Pit Bull" in it's official name.

So why doesn't the American Kennel Club recognize Pit Bulls as a breed?

For starters, remember when we talked about how people started calling anything that resembled an American Pit Bull Terrier a "pit bull" well there is reason number one.

Another reason is they are quite uptight and think that any dog not recognized by them is not a purebred dog. This is the farthest thing from the truth but millions of people buy into their ideology and promote incorrect information.

For proof one only needs to seek out the United Kennel Club or the American Dog Breeders Association to see what a real Pit Bull is and that American Pit Bull Terriers are in fact a purebred dog.

American Pit Bull Terriers (real Pit Bulls) are loyal, strong,
and love a challenge. That is why they are working dogs that
excel at hard work that other breeds shrink from.

Their love of people is legendary and that is why they are so easy to exploit and are being exploited daily by thousands of ignorant, greedy, sadistic people that use them for the wrong reasons.

So to sum up this article and put a final answer to the question, Are Pit Bulls a legit breed or a mixed mongrel...

The real Pit Bull or the American Pit Bull Terrier is in fact a legit breed of dog that excels at almost any task they are put to.

For more information on American Pit Bull Terriers try visiting PitBullLovers.com where you will find helpful information on topics like breed facts, photos, and training Pit Bulls.

Why Pit Bull Owners Need Pet Insurance

Pit Bull owners need pet insurance because it's smart and our
breed is active and we often find ourselves at the vet's office.

Pet insurance gives owners a little extra help when they need
it most and it also provides assistance for those unexpected
situations.

Getting hit by a car, getting a dog born disease, eating
a toy ball thrown in your yard, even getting lost are usually
covered by pet insurance carriers in the US and aboard.

As a Pit Bull owner you can rest assured that your dog will
receive the proper medical care and you can rest easy knowing
that you won't have to break the bank to cover those expenses.

I know from experience that accidents can happen. My dog Angel
ate a toy ball a kid through in my yard. That little ball almost
cost my dogs life and $3,000 in vet bills to remove it.

My dog Patch severely cut his paw pad on a large piece
of glass (once again tossed in my yard by a child) and required
$300 worth of medical attention.

You can learn two lessons from my misfortune...

1. It's not if, but when will an accident happen.

2. You should monitor your yard and make sure it is clean of debris that
can potentially cause those accidents.

Pet insurance offers protection against such things. Some insurance
providers cover up to 6,000 illnesses your dog can get during their
lifetime.

A few other items pet insurance offer are:

1. Coverage for unexpected deaths.

2. Coverage for boarding or kennel fees as a result of medical problems.

3. Recovery cost to pay for advertising or to offer a reward should
your dog go missing.

Some Tips for Finding Pet Insurance for Your Pit Bull

1. Remember the cheapest is always the best policy. Research all the policy options
because you may find investing a few more dollars is the best route to take.

2. Look for lifetime coverages.

3. Find out what the excess is. This is the amount of money you will have to pay
out of your pocket.

4. Check if they have higher premiums for Pit Bull owners. Sometimes they do have breed
specific rates and from my own research it will cost you a bit more but in the end
I've found its worth it.

5. Check if they have breed restrictions. I haven't found one that does have this
but you never know.

6. Decide on what level of coverage you need or want before you submitting a quote.
You will find a wide range of options. Take your time and choose the appropriate
level of coverage before you commit to anything to ensure you get the best
possible option.

In the end having pet insurance for your Pit Bull is going to save you money,
time, and frustration if something unfortunate happens. Having pet insurance
is responsible, smart, and as a Pit Bull owner you never know when your nutty
dog is going to do something, well, nutty and get themselves into some
mischief.

And as my mother always said, "it's better to be safe than sorry."

Texas Red Nose Pitbull

Texas red nose pit bulls come under the category of American pit bulls. Except the fact that these dogs are brought up in Texas there exist no difference between the pit bulls that we call as American pit bull and the Texas pit bull. Both these bog breeds possess similar characteristics and body features. Whatever be the name you give it, it shows the same features of the other requiring same amount of care and precautions from your part.

Pit bulls are known as born fighters. Their endurance to pain and courage to fight till death make it to be a fighter dog. Though dog fighting is banned by law, it is still taking place in various parts of the country.

As the very name indicates red pit bulls are the dogs with a red nose. You can identify a red pit bull from other dogs by the color of its nose. If you are a person thinking of bringing a Texas red nose pit bull to your home, it is good to acquire some knowledge about the way they are supposed to be taken care of at home. If they are not properly disciplined from the very childhood, you may find it difficult to control them when they grow. You may also find it difficult to control your dog when you take him out for a walk.

Make sure that you have made all the preparations at your home before you bring a Texas red nose pit bull puppy home. If it is not comfortable, it may destroy everything that comes across it during the initial days of settlement. You can avoid it by settling the puppy in a comfortable place. By nature Texas red nose pit bulls are found to be very inquisitive. If not kept properly they will chew every thing that they see at home. Try to make your home puppy friendly to make him comfortable and friendly with you.

The tendency to chew all that he sees may lead him to trouble. It is always better to keep things like electrical cords wires out of its reach. You can also avoid problems by using plastic fencing or other materials like that to avoid the puppies from getting in to balconies and stair case.

Like all other varieties of pit bull dogs, a Texas red nose pit bull also requires strict training and regular workout. If not allowed to involve in physical activities every day they may become destructive.

Pitbull Training Made Easy here...

Do you know owning a pit bull is a big responsibility? If you have given training to your pitbull, you will become as a responsible owner. Pitbull training is important because there have been numerous reports that pibulls are attacking children and people with no reason at all. This is mainly due to irresponsible owners. If you're owning apitbull, please do give training to the dog and become as a responsible owner.

Pitbull training made your dog docile and obedient and also spare the dog from attacking people.

Training Tips

Tip #1: Play with your dog while giving training. If your dog is very playful, your 50% pitbull training is over. You can make use of a ball to train your pit. Use fetch to teach him how to lie down, stay, sit, wait, etc... Throw a ball and ask him to fetch and use other commands to obey.

Tip #2: Do try to begin your pitbull training in a good mood. If you're in a foul mood, annoyed, frustrated, or severely upset, don't indulge in the act of giving training to your pi bull. If you're in such a bad mood, do give you dog only formal training.

Tip #3: Once your mood is getting deteriorated while giving pitbull training, ask your pit to do basic command they know better and put full stop for your training session. If you continue further, both your temperament as well as your dog's temperament will get interrupted.

Tip #4: Instead of offering treats to your pitbull as reward, you can make use of daily routine as a reward for the better performance. This will be helpful for the owners who want a dog that works for them without the need of treats. Do start using things like walks, in and out of cars, feeding time, going outside and other situations you will encounter for rewards.

Tip #5: Do you know dogs will also have change of mood? Try to understand this fact and don't expect your pits to be perfect all the time results in setting your dog and yourself up for failure. If you want your dog to stay focussed and be successful, then lower your expectations and the bar. If your dog fails in a CUE but understands it, then try another cue to get finished the same. Then go back to the one they failed after completing the second behavior training.

It is a fact that pitbull training should be taken seriously, but some of the pitbull owners are taking them TOO seriously and made both the dog as well as theirs life more miserable. Learn the basic principles of pitbull training and advocate them one by one to become as a responsible owner. ALL THE BEST!!!

Pit Bull Dogs and Home Insurance

If you are a home owner with a pit bull dog, or are considering getting a pit bull, you may be aware that your pet could affect your home insurance. Here are some things to consider.

American Pit Bull Terriers, American Staffordshire Terriers, and Staffordshire Bull Terriers are some of the more popular breeds commonly referred to as pit bulls. Many home insurance companies consider these dogs as a potential liability risk because their owners are often held accountable by law if the dog injures a person. When you purchase a homeowners insurance policy, you receive a certain amount of liability coverage to help pay for lawsuits filed against you.

According to the Insurance Information Institute, dog bites cost the property and casualty insurance industry about $317.2 million in 2005. Because insurers consider certain breeds of dog as a higher risk for a claim, they will often charge higher home insurance rates for pit bull owners.

However, the thing to realize is that each insurance company determines their rates and underwriting guidelines based on several factors that may be unique to that company. Thus rates -- as well as tolerance for accepting dogs -- can vary quite a bit from company to company. So whether you already own a pit bull, or are planning on getting one, you should get some comparison home insurance quotes. The Insurance Information Institute recommends getting at least three different quotes.

This is easy to do online by requesting quotes from different company Web sites. Or you may want to use an insurance comparison site. These sites don't represent one company. Instead, you only need to fill out one online quote form, then you get several different quotes back. These sites often use independent agents who will work to find you the lowest quotes.

To further lower your homeowner insurance costs, consider raising your deductible as well as taking advantage of any available discounts.

And finally, the Insurance Information Institute recommends being proactive in reducing your chances of dog bite liability. They recommend spaying or neutering your pet, learning how to maintain control of your dog and properly socializing him or her so they know how to act around other people and animals. Also, talk to a vet about ways to reduce aggressive behavior.

How To Prevent PitBull Chasing a Bicycle?

Out walking, your pit bull may return obediently to heel most of the time, but if a bicycler or jogger appears on the horizon, its predatory instinct is triggered and the pursuit begins. This behavior is really a big problem for the owners. They may approach the vet or a dog trainer to modify the behavior. But you ought to do some simple training to your pit bull to modify this hatred behavior.

1. Your Pit Bull should have two sessions of strenuous daily exercise on a long line (9ft/3m).

2. You should give him obedience and agility training to challenge her mentally and provide an additional physical outlet. You should play retrieving games and give him toys such as puzzle feeders when he's alone.

3. You should teach her the "leave" command by slowly propelling a toy across the floor, and rewarding him when he comes straight to them rather than pursuing the toy.

4. When a bicycler appears, your pit bull should be given the command to "leave". A ball should be thrown in the opposite direction for him to chase, and should be rewarded every time she obeys.

5. If you cannot find extra time to look after pit bull and keep him stimulated, you should consider parting with him.

Pit bull Training- Is it Necessary?

Do you know pit bulls are very faithful unlike other dogs? But there are news about pit bull mauling due to the fact that they can become restless and rowdy, if they haven't given proper training.

A survey confirms that approximately 3 to 4 cases of pit bull biting a year is recorded. Lack of pit bull training is the main cause for such act. In real, pit bulls are good mannered and very much adorable dog after examining the attack frequency and records of biting in comparison to other species.

If the pup is separated at very younger age from their parents, there is every possibility of becoming as a rude dog. hence the weaning should be done only after eight weeks from the parents. Another factor which may provoke aggression among the pit bull is keeping them in an isolated place and are not allowed to play with children or other animals.

Hence socialization and proper training will help them to grow as a proud dog as other breeds. Now it is in the hands of the owner how to mold a pit bull - an aggressive one or a perfect socialization dog.
